  • Is this company owned and operated by a person who is Deaf or hard of hearing?
No. The founder of MyASLTeacherROCKs LLC is hearing and has been involved with the Deaf community through family members, as an interpreter for the Deaf, and as a certified ASL teacher for over 20 years. Our team consists of Deaf, hearing and hard of hearing individuals that have come together to provide quality ASL classes for interested learners.
  • Will my teacher be Deaf of hearing, because I want a Deaf teacher?
As we grow we have teachers from all backgrounds and we do our best to match teachers with students based on location, preferred schedule, and other factors. A students ability to pick a specific teacher by degree of hearing loss is not one of those factors.

  • What is the #ParentsROCK Readiness Project?
Our #ParentsROCK Readiness Project is a non-profit organization designed to provide resources, support, and information to parents of children who are D/HH. The Executive Director of this program, Mrs. Alicia Spencer, is a mother of two boys who are deaf. She knows the importance of understanding your child's hearing loss and being well informed when making decisions that best fit YOUR family's needs. Understanding that "one size DOES NOT fit all" is imperative. The goal of our #ParentsROCK Readiness Project is to “provide parents with all the necessary tools, even if they never use them.” To join our email list and stay up-to-date with our meetings and other events. All classes are scheduled in Eastern Standard Time (EST).
  • Are there classes during the holidays and summer?
We do have holidays and breaks built into our program. It's important to note that your initial level of entry into our program may not necessarily be the first level, as it will be tailored to your existing knowledge and skills.
